GreenBlue today announced the appointment of Lance Hosey as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Hosey is a nationally recognized architect, designer, and writer on sustainable design who has worked with some of the world's most successful companies and organizations to advance sustainable innovations. He is the co-author of Women in Green: Voices of Sustainable Design, and his latest book, The Shape of Green: Aesthetics, Ecology, and Design, will be published in 2011. Previously he held the position of Director with the sustainable design and architecture firm William McDonough + Partners. Hosey is a Contributing Editor to Architect magazine and an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Green Professionals.

Founded in 2002, GreenBlue is the only U.S. environmental nonprofit focused solely on guiding business and industry toward sustainable design and production. Through projects such as the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, CleanGredients, and Metafore, GreenBlue has earned a reputation for its scientific credibility and technical expertise in helping businesses implement sustainability solutions and innovations.

The past year has been significant for GreenBlue, as the organization acquired another nonprofit organization (Metafore), expanded its Board of Directors, and selected a CEO to implement a new strategic direction for GreenBlue that includes a more visible role for GreenBlue.

Architect, designer, writer, and advocate Lance Hosey has been featured in Metropolis magazine's "Next Generation" program and Architectural Record's "emerging architect" series. Until 2009, he held the position of Director with the sustainable design and architecture firm William McDonough + Partners, with which he had been associated for nearly a decade. His essays on the environmental and social aspects of design have appeared in publications such as The Washington Post, The Washington Business Journal, Metropolis, Architectural Record, and Grist, and he is a Contributing Editor with Architect magazine, where he writes the monthly "Ecology" column. With Kira Gould, he is co-author of Women in Green: Voices of Sustainable Design (2007), the first design book to study the links between diversity and environmentalism. His forthcoming book, The Shape of Green: Aesthetics, Ecology, and Design, demonstrates how form and image can enhance conservation, comfort, and community at every scale of design, from products to cities. In 2009, Lance was voted an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Green Professionals.
