Cincinnati based Tulong LLC announced today that it has developed new sustainable apparel brands Repair The World®, Reparel™, and Sloungewear™. Repair the World® clothing is activewear apparel (women's, junior's, men's, and children's shirts, hoodies, and pants) made from people-friendly and earth-friendly sustainable materials (recycled colored cotton and recycled polyester from plastic bottles).

Tulong (which means "help" in the Tagalog language), the parent company for Repair the World® apparel, is one of a very few U.S. based, for-profit entities that focuses on social responsibility, providing sustainable products, while applying best practices as a model of socially responsible business. According to a Schwab Foundation™ survey of 98 ventures formed by 115 social entrepreneurs, just under one-third (30) have a social business model similar to Tulong. However, only 2 of those enterprises are based in the United States.1 Tulong was founded in 2008 by Mark Heiman, a patent-holding textile innovator and 30 year veteran in the textile and apparel industry and Alan and Christie Brown. Through the sales of Repair the World® apparel, Tulong supports sustainable global development by providing livelihood training, employment opportunities, and by improving underdeveloped community infrastructure.

"We are very pleased that after 2 years of product and business development that we have launched our business based on a triple bottom line approach. We look forward to generating sales of our sustainable products which in turn will generate good works and sustainable futures for people around the world," said Mark Heiman, one of founders of Tulong.

Repair the World® apparel is designed for comfort, and has a unique, individual, edgy, and fashionable look and feel. The product development and design of Repair The World® apparel uses K2N recycled yarn technology™ which requires no new natural resources or chemical dying. Each of the company's apparel items was also designed and constructed for a variety of end uses, reducing the need for redundant consumption, and takes into account the impact of the products after purchase.

Repair the World® apparel was displayed to the public for the first time at the country's largest apparel tradeshow (Booth #75116) WWD Magic in Las Vegas, NV August 17-19, 2010 and will be featured at The Minneapolis Show (Embassy Suites, Room 802), August 22-23, 2010.
