PORTLAND, Ore., Jun. 07 /CSRwire/ - GreenPrint Technologies today announced a contract to license its print management software to Marks & Spencer. Marks & Spencer plans to roll out GreenPrint Enterprise throughout its UK corporate headquarters.
"We couldn't be more excited about this deal," said GreenPrint CEO Hayden Hamilton. "Marks & Spencer is a leader in business sustainability and therefore provided us with our first large scale opportunity to demonstrate GreenPrint's savings with a large European company. The results have opened the door to a huge new market for us, and we look forward to working with other European organizations who share Marks & Spencer's commitment to sustainability and cost savings."
Europe represents an enormous opportunity for print management software. Lexmark International estimates that 696 billion wasted pages are printed across the continent every year, costing European organizations billions of Euros annually. The wasted pages are responsible for hundreds of millions of tons of greenhouse gasses, and the loss of tens of millions of trees.
The average UK office worker prints 38 pages per day, 29% of which is waste according to a Lexmark study. GreenPrint estimates that in the first year of using the software, Mark & Spencer will save over 750 trees and prevent more than 2,200 tons of greenhouse gases.
GreenPrint Enterprise software saves the average user around $75 and 1,250 wasted pages per year by making it easy to eliminate unwanted pages and content before they are printed. GreenPrint highlights typical waste pages (e.g. pages with just a URL, banner ad, or legal jargon) and allows the user to easily eliminate anything unnecessary before printing, saving paper, ink, and trees. GreenPrint also incorporates extensive print management and reporting software, allowing organizations to discover, analyze, and quantify ecological and cost-saving benefits.
Marks & Spencer Group PLC is a leading clothing, home and food retailer serving over 21 million customers each week. Based in the UK, the company has 895 stores across more than 40 countries worldwide.
GreenPrint Technologies, LLC is the maker of GreenPrint World, Home Premium, Mac, and GreenPrint Enterprise software designed to reduce waste in home and office printing. The software eliminates wasteful pages before they are printed, incorporates a PDF writer to provide an alternative to printing, and provides easy options to save ink and toner.
