Nine Leading Corporate Citizens Also Join Board

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Business Civic Leadership Center (BCLC) named Akhtar Badshah, Microsoft Corporation's senior director of Global Community Affairs, as chairman of the Board for the 2010-2011 annual term. Nine executives representing all sectors of business joined Badshah and existing members on the Board.
"Corporate citizens are dealing with many complex disaster and development challenges from Haiti and the Gulf Coast to communities across the United States," said Stephen Jordan, senior vice president and executive director of BCLC. "With Akhtar's leadership and the addition of a tremendously talented group of executives representing significant companies and industries, BCLC continues to ramp up the capacity of business to make a positive difference to society."

The additions further enhance BCLC's capacity to drive private sector engagement in key areas of global development, disaster recovery, sustainability, and community involvement.
"Today there is both a great opportunity and a great need for businesses to partner with government and community organizations to address social and economic issues," said Badshah. "BCLC plays a very important role in helping corporations to think about how they can use their resources to make a positive impact in a responsible manner. I am honored to accept this appointment, and I look forward to working closely with BCLC to help drive this important work."
