WOONSOCKET, R.I., May 06 /CSRwire/ - /PRNewswire/ - The CVS Caremark Charitable Trust announced today that it is donating $100,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to support flood relief efforts in the Southeastern United States, including the states of Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee.

"The Red Cross has implemented a coordinated effort to assist victims of these devastating floods and we are committed to supporting their efforts across the states that are impacted," said Eileen Howard Dunn, Vice President of the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust. "It is our hope that these funds will help these communities recover as quickly as possible."

"Flood waters can take days to recede and can wreak devastating damage on homes, and the Red Cross is grateful for support from the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust that will help us provide immediate relief as well as assistance over the long haul to enable people to get back on their feet," said Neal Litvack, chief development officer at the American Red Cross. "These contributions, along with the support of the American public, are critical during floods and similar disasters because they enable the Red Cross to provide help and hope to those in need."

In addition to the cash donation, the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust is donating more than $13,000 in food and personal care items to the Seventh Day Adventist Center in Albertville, AL and the American Red Cross in Nashville, TN.
