WASHINGTON, Apr. 02 /CSRwire/ - The William James Foundation (WJF) is hosting our 7th annual Socially Responsible Business Plan Competition finalist presentations and awards ceremony on Saturday, April 10th at the U Street Affinity Lab in Washington, DC. The event runs from 10am to 6pm, with a reception to follow, and is free to those who RSVP at https://wjf.wufoo.com/forms/wjf-conference-april-10th/.
This event will feature active networking and presentations by sustainable entrepreneurs and topic experts. Representatives from The Affinity Lab, Bethesda Green, & The Hub will discuss incubating social enterprises.
At 3:00 PM, the finalists for the Affinity Lab DC prize (BizWiz, Company Social Hall, & Kwai) will make their case to judges and the audience. They are competing for over $10,000 in prizes donated by area companies such as The Affinity Lab, Joint Concepts, Community IT Innovators, Yes! Circle.
At 4:30 PM, the finalists in the overall competition (Advancing Engineering Consultuing, Nuru Light, & Prosperity Candle) will make their case to judges and the audience. They are competing for over $80,000 in cash and in-kind prizes donated by organizations such as Enjuba, HIP Investor, Social Enterprise Associates, CitySoft, CSRwire, Free Range Studios, Investor's Circle. Seven teams have received Honorable Mention status. They are: BizWiz, BlindSpot Cycles, Conservation and Climate Security International, EGG-energy, Epothecary, Peartree Preschool, & Tibetan Social Service Center.

More than 150 teams from over 40 countries entered this year's competition. They received more than 3,250 pages of detailed feedback from over 250 reading judges. These readers included experts in social ventures and traditional business plans, Wall Street professionals, academics, and CEOs of national for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.
