In the wake of the earthquake that hit Port-au-Prince, Haiti on Tuesday, January 12 and the aftershocks, Global Impact's corporate and local partners responded quickly and generously to help people affected by the earthquake. Highlights of key partner activities include:

UnitedHealth Group announced earlier this week that it would match up to $100,000 of employee donations made to the Global Impact Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund.

"We have chosen Global Impact for our corporate match because it works with the most respected charities active in Haiti," said Jeannine Rivet, executive vice president at UnitedHealth Group.

King County, WA designated the Global Impact Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund as the sole recipient of King County employee donations. Employees are eligible to make a one-time donation of vacation/ compensation time which will be converted into a cash donation. These funds will go to Global Impact charities supported by the King County campaign doing relief work in Haiti.

"The needs in Haiti will continue for months and years to come and Global Impact charities will be a key part of that process," said Junelle Schrum, employee giving program administrator, King County.

California Pizza Kitchen also announced this week that it established a $100,000 fund to match the first $100,000 in employee contributions. Additionally, Altegrity/USIS, Thomson Reuters and many others are directing their employees to donate to the fund via Global Impact's website at www.charity.org.

CharityCall, a mobile giving technology, released a new mobile application for donors to assist the efforts in Haiti. From any smartphone (e.g., iPhone, Blackberry, Palm, or Android device), donors can go to helphaiti.mobi to give quickly and securely. If the donor is employed by a partner with a matching gifts program, employees can enter their company name to apply for matching funds. The process is easy, quick and convenient.

"Helphaiti.mobi is another way to simplify the donation process and respond to the need in Haiti," said Robert Jones, President, CharityCall. "Donors can easily choose a donation of $25, $50, $75 or more from their mobile device and request corporate matching funds in one quick process."

The need for clean water, food and medical supplies is critical for survival and the ongoing support to rebuild Haiti is vital for sustainable results. Join Global Impact partners and donate now to the Global Impact Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund as its charities work to rescue, repair and rebuild Haiti.
