Leonardo Academy announced its next session of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance (LEED-EB: O+M) 2009 training to take place in Chicago, Illinois on November 5, 2009. This full-day program will instruct participants on how to successfully use and implement LEED-EB: O+M 2009, a rating system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and will prepare participants for the LEED-EB: O+M 2009 Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) accreditation exam. This training is being hosted by e-One, a Chicago-based sustainability consultancy affiliated with award-winning local telecommunications provider, CallOne.

Participants will learn the ins and outs of the new LEED-EB: O+M 2009 rating system. This course will be taught by Michael Arny, President, and Kara Edmonson, Senior LEED Project Manager. Leonardo Academy has extensive LEED experience and has been engaged with LEED-EB from its inception. Throughout the development of LEED-EB, Leonardo Academy provided support and guidance to the USGBC. Leonardo Academy continues to provide technical assistance and guidance to the USGBC as well as certification review of building projects throughout the U.S. As a consultant, Leonardo Academy has successfully guided many building owners and managers through the LEED-EB implementation and certification process.

  • Metrics of LEED-EB: O+M 2009: Prerequisites, Credits and Innovation Credits
  • Process for LEED-EB: O+M 2009: When to Use Each Rating System, Registration, Implementation, Certification Review, Appeals, CIRs (Credit Interpretation Request)
  • Accreditation Exam for LEED-EB: O+M 2009: Types of questions, Example questions, Study Tips and Resources

Michael Arny, PE, MSME, LEED AP, President
Michael Arny founded Leonardo Academy in 1997 and leads Leonardo Academy's sustainability programs and consulting practice. Michael has worked on energy, environmental issues, and sustainability throughout his entire career. Michael was the chair of the LEED® for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB) committee of the US Green Building Council (USGBC) from 2001-2005 when the USGBC's LEED-EB rating system was being developed and first implemented.

Kara Edmonson, LEED AP O+M, Senior LEED Project Manager
Kara Edmonson is a project manager of LEED consulting projects and reviews LEED-EB certification applications for the USGBC per Leonardo Academy's service agreement. Kara also manages the Sustainability Internship Program and Leonardo Academy's Sustainable Land Management Program.
