NEWHALL, CA. - June 29, 2009 - When Mitch McMullen, founder and CEO of Newhall Coffee Roasting Company, launched Patriot Blend coffee in 2003, little did he realize the direct impact his desire to give back would have on the troops, retailers and consumers. He pledged a free pot of coffee for every pound of Patriot Blend sold and to-date, 400,000 pots equaling 4 million cups of Patriot Blend coffee have been shipped to military personnel around the world.

”Reaching this milestone,” says McMullen, “demonstrates to me how deeply people care about our soldiers. At first, a consumer may not recognize the Newhall brand, but realizing that their purchase will give some comfort to a member of the armed forces gives them all the justification they need to buy an unfamiliar product. We think the quality, along with their own desire to help the troops, brings them back for more.” (Read the entire Patriot Blend story at http://www.newhallcoffee.com/blog/.)

Patriot Blend is sold in retail grocery stores, Sam’s Club and Wal-Mart. Wherever space permits, Newhall Coffee Roasting Company brings attention to its Patriot Blend coffee by means of a colorful and patriotic-looking pallet display that clearly demonstrates the coffee’s mission. Retailers are particularly pleased with the extra effort Newhall puts into marketing their product. Additionally, Newhall Coffee’s Web site prominently displays the Patriot Blend on its home page, and McMullen keeps consumers updated as to the Blend’s availability on Twitter and Facebook, as well as other social networking sites.

Newhall partners with Operation Gratitude to ship Patriot Blend to military members in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Bahrain, the UAE, Kosovo, Korea, Africa, Guantanamo Bay and onto ships in international waters. The company continually receives heartfelt letters of thanks both from soldiers and military families.
Patriot Blend combines three different farm-grown Brazilian arabicas that have been sun and machine dried. This luscious combination results in a sweet and flavorful full-bodied medium roast coffee with a wonderful aroma.
