DAVOS, Switzerland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announced today that it has been named one of the most sustainable corporations in the world for the third year in a row. Alcoa was recognized among the top role models in sustainable business practices in the annual Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World ranking, during a ceremony at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The Global 100 was initiated in 2005 by Corporate Knights Inc. of Canada, which publishes the world’s only mainstream corporate responsibility magazine. Innovest Strategic Value Advisors Inc., an investment research and advisory firm, compiles and analyses the data of 1800 international companies to create the list.

"Inclusion in the Global 100 ranking reflects our hard work and the value we place as a company on sustainability," said Alcoa Chairman and CEO Alain Belda. "We incorporate sustainable behavior into our business practices, partnerships and community engagement. At Alcoa, we view sustainability as the simultaneous achievement of financial success, environmental excellence and social responsibility, which delivers long-term benefits to our stakeholders. Receiving this recognition adds momentum to our corporate sustainability initiatives," Belda said.

Alcoa is a founding member of the newly formed U.S. Climate Action Partnership, an organization of leading corporations and NGOs dedicated to working with government to slow, stop and ultimately reverse climate change.
