PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announced today that it has been chosen again as a component of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index family. Selection is based on a thorough assessment of a company's economic, environmental and social performance. This is the fifth time Alcoa has been named a member of the index.

Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are the first global indexes tracking the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide. Total assets under management in DJSI-based investment vehicles currently amount to more than $5 billion, a 30% increase over the last 12 months.

"Such prestigious recognition of our sustainability efforts gives us great pride, and demonstrates what can be achieved when Alcoans around the globe work in partnership with the community to promote sustainability through economic success, environmental excellence and social responsibility," said Alain Belda, Alcoa Chairman and CEO.

Alcoa's 2005 Sustainability Report details the company's revised strategic framework for sustainability supported by clear targets for measuring progress toward achievement of Alcoa's vision for 2020.
