Alcoa Locations Achieve Rare Accomplishment in Management System Certifications; Two Alcoa Facilities Certified for Excellence in Environmental, Quality and Health & Safety Performance

TORRANCE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 23, 2006--Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announced today that two of its operating locations have been certified for excellence in environmental, quality, and health and safety performance, achieving a rare accomplishment in management system certifications globally.

Alcoa Fastening Systems plants in Tucson, Arizona and Carson, California have each been certified AS9100/ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 140001 (environmental) and OHSAS 18001 (health and safety) by BSI Management Systems, one of the world's largest management system registrars. The Carson and Tucson plants are the first within the global AFS business to achieve triple certifications.

The majority of Alcoa locations worldwide have achieved quality management and environmental management system certifications, with more than 175 sites certified ISO 14001 and more than 200 sites certified under the ISO 9001 standard.
