PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announced today that it has been named one of the most sustainable corporations in the world again in recognition of its superior performance and strategic ability to manage its environmental, social and economic impact across the board. This is the second straight year that Alcoa has made the list, which was announced today at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

"We are honored to be here again this year, and we appreciate this recognition of the work of Alcoans worldwide who strive to add value for all stakeholders - today and in the long-term," said Alain Belda, Alcoa Chairman and CEO. "By living our Values, our people, processes and products have contributed simultaneously to our financial success, environmental excellence and social responsibility through building partnerships. These three elements are matters of great importance to us, as they are significant to our environment, key to profitability, vital to our communities and essential to remaining in business over the long term."

Innovest Strategic Value Advisors Inc., an international investment research firm, partnered with Corporate Knights Inc., an independent Canadian-based media company, to publish the list of Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World for the first time in 2005. The list ranks blue-chip companies around the world that have demonstrated the strongest sustainability performance. The top 100 sustainability performers are chosen from the universe of publicly-traded companies on the MSCI World Index, based on research and analysis by Innovest Strategic Value Advisors. The analysis evaluates which companies have the best ability to manage the environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities they face.

Toby Heaps, founder and editor of Corporate Knights Magazine, announced the 2006 results, adding, "By whittling down over 1,800 firms from around the world to just the top 100 sustainability performers, the Global 100 helps to separate the sustainability pretenders from the sustainability contenders."
