American Home Products Corporation announced today that it has been selected as one of Working Mother magazine's "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" for the third consecutive year.

The October issue of Working Mother rates companies on the following five criteria: child care, leave for new parents, flexible work arrangements, work/life benefits such as elder care and adoption assistance, and opportunities for women. Editors looked at a range of supportive company offerings, including health insurance premiums, availability of time off to care for sick children, mentoring programs and extras such as on-site fitness centers and other conveniences.

John R. Stafford, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American Home Products, stated, "We are pleased to be named as one of the best companies for working mothers again. At American Home Products, we support working mothers and their families through excellent employee benefits and opportunities for career development and advancement. We also offer our diverse work force competitive compensation and dependent care assistance, which includes financial support as well as resource and referral services for child and elder care."

AHP offers a dependent care subsidy as a matching contribution to an employee's Dependent Care Spending Account. This benefit provides financial support to meet the dependent care needs of AHP's employees and their families. In addition, AHP offers adoption assistance benefits and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) designed to help resolve a wide array of personal and dependent care issues including elder care. AHP also provides on-site child care facilities in several of its locations. AHP offers most employees an opportunity to choose their daily work schedules to give them greater flexibility in meeting both work and personal responsibilities. Increasingly, employees have the opportunity to work a reduced schedule and some employees may have the opportunity to work from home occasionally or on a regular schedule. Nearly half of AHP's work force are women and increasing numbers of women are fulfilling leadership roles in the company.

American Home Products Corporation is one of the world's largest research-based pharmaceutical and health care products companies. It is a leader in the discovery, development, manufacturing and marketing of prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications. It is also a global leader in vaccines, biotechnology and animal health care.
