CIGNA Corporation was named one of the 50 Best Companies for Hispanic women to work in the United States by Latina Style magazine for the fourth straight year. CIGNA made the list based primarily on its programs targeted to women.

Among the work/life efforts that earned the company this recognition are its on-site childcare, corporate lactation program and flexible work arrangements. In addition, CIGNA was recognized for equality and diversity in the workplace -- employing nearly 3,000 Hispanics, with more than 110 holding positions of vice president or higher.

"Creating the best work environment that we possibly can is very important to us," said Curtis Mathews, CIGNA's vice president of corporate diversity.

"CIGNA recognizes that we have some of the most talented employees in our industry, and we are committed to developing and updating programs that will help all our employees be successful in both their work and personal lives."

More than 600 U.S. corporations were evaluated by Latina Style and only 50 were selected as the top companies. A report on the magazine's findings has been compiled and will be presented to members of Congress, the White House, cabinet members and Hispanic professional and civic organizations across the country. With a national circulation of 150,000 and a readership of nearly 600,000, Latina Style reaches the Latina professional, Latina college student and Latina business owner. 2001 marks the fourth year the magazine has evaluated corporate America's sensitivity to Latina needs in the workplace.
