WOONSOCKET, R.I., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade, PGA TOUR Professionals and co-hosts of the CVS Caremark Charity Classic, unveiled the field for the tournament's 10th anniversary edition today. The 2008 CVS Caremark Charity Classic is set for June 22 - 24 at Rhode Island Country Club and will benefit numerous regional charities.

This year, the CVS Caremark Charity Classic will once again draw its notable 20-player field from the ranks of the PGA, LPGA and Champions tours. The announced field represents three countries and includes legendary golfer and three-time Masters Champion Nick Faldo who will be making his inaugural appearance.

Additional tournament newcomers include Boo Weekley, Brandt Snedeker and Charles Howell III. LPGA professionals Laura Diaz and Nicole Castrale are also new to the tournament in 2008. Weekley is currently 25th on the FedEx Cup point standings while 2007 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year Snedeker has already posted three top-10 finishes this year. Howell III has earned four top-25 finishes to date in 2008.

Continuing the tradition of fielding a women's team, Wake Forest
hall-of-famer Diaz, who is currently fifth on the 2008 LPGA Money list, and Castrale, who sunk the winning putt for the 2007 U.S. Solheim Cup team, will compete for the 2008 CVS Caremark Charity Classic trophy. There are three remaining spots in the 2008 field that will be announced soon.

Champions Return

J.J. Henry and Stewart Cink will return to defend their 2007 title. Two-time CVS Caremark Charity Classic Champion Nick Price (2001, 2006) will also compete in the 36-hole team event. Rounding out the roster are Columbian sensation Camilo Villegas; Bubba Watson, who for two consecutive seasons has led the TOUR in driving distance (2006, 2007); Champions Tour Professionals Peter Jacobsen and Dana Quigley; and veteran PGA Tour Professionals Tim Herron and Brett Quigley.

Tournament week begins with the Pepsi Pro-Am on Sunday, June 22 followed by the two-day tournament Monday, June 23 - Tuesday, June, 24 at the Rhode Island Country Club. Participants will be competing for a purse of $1.55 million.

"We are thrilled to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the CVS Caremark Charity Classic with such a distinguished group of the world's top golfers," said Eileen Howard Dunn, Tournament Chairman, CVS Caremark Charity Classic. "Most importantly, however, we're proud to be marking the tournament's significant philanthropic endeavors. During the past nine years the CVS Caremark Charity Classic has raised more than $10 million dollars for New England charities dedicated to children and families."
