At its 2005 Spirit of Life Dinner, City of Hope's Music and Entertainment Industry Chapter recognized Clear Channel Communications(NYSE:CCU) President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Mays with the
2005 Spirit of Life award. This award is the highest honor bestowed by the world-renowned cancer research and treatment center. Mays'dedication to leading Clear Channel's efforts to effect positive change in each of the global media and entertainment markets the company serves prompted his selection by the key industry executives of this fundraising group for City of Hope.

The well-attended award event held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica featured musical performances by Earth, Wind & Fire and Chicago, and more than 1,200 entertainers and top executives were on-hand to celebrate Mays' and Clear Channels' contributions to City of Hope's research, treatment and educational programs. Over the past year, Clear Channel has raised over $2.5M with additional donations of nearly $100,000 coming from a benefit concert sponsored by Clear Channel Radio's Star 98.7 in Los Angeles and from auctions of autographed music memorabilia donated by Clear Channel Radio stations.
