Key Issues is a national teacher-training institute that provides creative and innovative middle-level educators with the process, skills and confidence to investigate current environmental issues with their students. This interdisciplinary approach is supported through Keystone Science School and its partnerships with organizations and corporations that have a commitment to changing and enhancing the way science and environmental education are taught in classrooms.

The teachers were chosen from a select field of applicants across the country. "Those that come to the training bring a cadre of experiences and new issues relevant to their communities," said Brooke Carson, Teacher Training Director for the Key Issues Institute at the Key Science School. "With Compaq's support they will be an asset to the Keystone program and I look forward to working with them to help enhance the hands-on science experience for students in their respective schools.

According to Julie Vickers, Manager, Compaq Corporate Community Relations, "Compaq is pleased to recognize and support these outstanding and innovative teachers from communities where we have a significant business and employee presence. Through their involvement in the Institute, we can help bring a greater understanding of the environment into classrooms students across the country.
