ISLANDIA, N.Y. - Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE:CA) today announced it has pledged $500,000 to the American Red Cross in support of the organization's massive relief effort to help the millions of people affected by Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. In addition, CA continues to provide its standard two-for-one match to all employees giving to international aid organizations through the Company's Matching Gifts Program.

"Anyone who has seen the massive devastation and human suffering this hurricane has inflicted realizes the need to support relief efforts," said John Swainson, president and chief executive officer of CA. "It is clear that the private sector must band with local, state and federal officials to do whatever needs to be done to stabilize the situation and start the road to recovery."

The American Red Cross is rushing relief assistance to the areas hardest hit by massive flooding and destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina, working to meet the urgent needs of hundreds of thousands of people who survived the hurricane but now need shelter, water, food, medical supplies and other critical assistance.

Throughout the past week, CA has reached out to its customers across the Florida and Gulf Coast regions who were in the path of Hurricane Katrina.

"While communications have been difficult and human concerns the first priority, we are reaching out to affected customers as the situation allows to do everything we can to help them get back on their feet," Swainson added.
