ROUND ROCK, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26, 2005--Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) computer systems are proving to be a critical link between the New York City Family Justice Center and victims of domestic violence who turn to this innovative social service center for aid and protection.

The Center, which Mayor Michael Bloomberg opened in Brooklyn this summer as the first of its kind under the Department of Justice's Family Justice Center Initiative, brings together under one roof virtually every type of service provider needed by domestic violence victims. They include advocates for victims of abuse, law enforcement officers, prosecutors, probation officers, civil legal attorneys, faith-based groups and representatives from community-based organizations.

Dell either donated or deeply discounted computer systems for use by victims and administrators at the Brooklyn facility. Dell donated 18 OptiPlex(TM) GX280 computers and two Dell PowerEdge(TM) 2850 network servers, and provided another 42 desktop computers at cost. Dell also provided at cost 41 laser printers, one for each agency within the center, which victims can use to print confidential information.

"Technology plays an important role in providing better assistance to victims -- from digitizing 911 calls in order to have them available at arraignments to protecting confidential information with sophisticated firewalls," said Yolanda B. Jimenez, Commissioner of the New York City Mayor's Office to Combat Domestic Violence. "We are grateful for the generous technological support Dell has provided to the Family Justice Center."

"When put in the right hands, a computer can make a huge impact on someone's life, from helping to ensure they get everything they're entitled to in a time of need to simplifying everyday tasks during an especially difficult time," said Mike Bruemmer, vice president of Dell's state and local government business. "The Family Justice Center is an excellent example of using technology to render much-needed assistance to victims of domestic violence."
