ROUND ROCK, TX - Michael Dell told a keynote audience at the National Council of La Raza's Annual Conference Monday how his company is making technology more affordable and accessible to customers through standards-based technology.

Mr. Dell, the company's chairman and chief executive officer, described the benefits of information-technology investments by small businesses and educators. He also summarized how Dell is helping disadvantaged youths around the globe gain access to computers and related training.

"Dell and La Raza share a common goal -- to make a difference in the lives of Hispanic Americans by providing boundless opportunities to our youth, our families and our business leaders through technology," Dell said. "We're committed to digital inclusion and education because we believe it's important that everyone have the training and resources necessary to develop, grow and learn 21st century technology skills."

His presentation also highlighted Dell's commitment to diverse suppliers. In its most recent fiscal year, the company awarded nearly $280 million in new contracts to Hispanic and other diverse suppliers.

The La Raza conference is expected to draw more than 20,000 Hispanic Americans from across the United States and will include a Dell Cyber Cafe, featuring Dell's desktop and notebook computers, a Dell supplier-diversity workshop and a technology panel.
