Delphi Automotive Systems' (NYSE: DPH) Querétaro, México plant will receive the Industria Limpia (Clean Industry) Award from Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo at a recognition ceremony in Toluca, México today.
"When we started up our Delphi Saginaw Steering operations four years ago we made a commitment to the government and the community that we would not negatively impact the environment," said Abelardo Rodriguez, director of operations at Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems' Querétaro facility. "This recognition is proof that we kept our promise."
The Querétaro plant actively engages in all aspects of environmental protection including recycling paper, wood and cardboard, and treating its own waste water through a treatment facility installed at the site.
"We are very proud of our Querétaro facility and their dedication to environmental excellence," said Paul J. Tosch, Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems president and Delphi Automotive Systems vice president. "Querétaro is a shining example of Delphi's commitment to protect the natural resources and environment wherever our facilities are located."
