DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 8, 2006--For 25 years, hardworking groups of low to moderate-income high school students have chosen to spend their summer vacations beautifying Dallas parks, building houses and taking classes taught by college instructors.

Sponsored by ExxonMobil and managed by the City of Dallas, the ExxonMobil Green Team provides paid summer jobs and educational enrichment classes for 100 Dallas-area high school students.

Seventy-six student participants worked for the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department landscaping and maintaining parks, athletic fields and recreation centers across Dallas. In addition, 24 Green Team students built two homes under the supervision of construction technology instructors from North Lake College, which were sold to qualified applicants.

"Throughout the summer, the Green Team students have gained valuable knowledge and made a lasting mark on our community," said Fred Marshall, global community relations manager at ExxonMobil. "We at ExxonMobil are proud of the many accomplishments of these students and look forward to seeing what their futures hold."

Students began work on two homes on Chippewa Drive in West Dallas after the June 13th Opening Ceremony for the 2006 Green Team program.

The program concluded today with a ribbon cutting for the new homes and an ice cream social. This year's celebration marks the 25th year of the ExxonMobil Green Team and the 27th home built in Dallas.

An important aspect of ExxonMobil Green Team is education. Students in the parks component are enrolled in math, reading, writing and computer literacy classes at the ExxonMobil Academy at El Centro College. Meanwhile, students in the construction group receive on-site training and supervision by North Lake College's construction technology instructors. Both groups of students meet each Friday for enrichment programs and field trips. As a special component to the program this year, the students also created a photo exhibit chronicling the work they did over the summer. Students are paid for their time spent both on the job and in the classroom.

"ExxonMobil would like to thank all of the partners that have helped make the Green Team such an outstanding program over the past 25 years. These dedicated individuals and organizations play a vital role in mentoring the Green Team students and ensuring their success, both during the program and in the future," said Marshall.

Managed by the City of Dallas Housing Department, the 2006 ExxonMobil Green Team program has many community partners including: Acme Brick, Builders of Hope CDC, City of Dallas Housing Department, City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department, Dallas County, Eagle Ford Neighborhood of Dallas, El Centro College, Inwood National Bank, JPMorgan Chase Bank NA, North Lake College and Wells Fargo Bank.

The Green Team is one of ExxonMobil's signature community programs. To administer the 2006 program, ExxonMobil provided a grant of $265,000 to the City of Dallas. Since its launch in 1981, ExxonMobil has invested more than $5.5 million in the Dallas program.
Upon completion of the 2006 program, the ExxonMobil Green Team will have reached more than 3,100 students, constructed 27 homes and completed numerous park improvements throughout Dallas.

The Dallas program has become a model for ExxonMobil Green Team programs in cities across the country where ExxonMobil has operations, including Beaumont, Texas; Torrance, California; Clinton, New Jersey; Paulsboro, New Jersey; Chalmette, Louisiana; and Arlington, Virginia.
