Our Route to Sustainability, Ford Motor Company's sustainability report, is now available at http://www.ford.com/go/sustainability. A summary report, available as a pdf download, includes a letter from CEO Bill Ford, perspectives from Ford business leaders and external observers on the sustainability challenges facing the auto industry and a data summary. A full Web report provides updated chapters on Ford's response to significant issues identified through a materiality analysis, including mobility, climate change and human rights. It also provides discussion and data about Ford's performance according to its Business Principles. Highlights include:

  • Extension of Ford's Code of Basic Working Conditions to all suppliers

  • Introduction of Ford's second hybrid vehicle, the Mercury Mariner Hybrid

  • Improvements to the average fleet fuel economy of Ford's U.S. vehicles and four of the five brands it sells in Europe

  • Announcement of a $1.8 billion investment in Europe in advanced technologies to cut fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles

  • An 18 percent improvement in the energy efficiency of Ford's North American facilities, exceeding a five-year goal and earning Ford recognition by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy as an "Energy Star Partner of the Year." Greenhouse gas emissions from facilities were cut 15 percent during the same period.

For 2006/7, Ford will publish full printed and web reports based on an updated materiality analysis and stakeholder feedback.
