HON Industries Inc. (NYSE:HNI) announced today a joint contribution from its members and its charitable foundation of $182,000 to the American Red Cross to assist the victims and recovery efforts from the tragedy on September 11, 2001. Since the attacks, HON Industries also has committed three truckloads of surplus furniture to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help with the immediate needs for emergency relief offices.

HON Industries' Charitable Foundation matched contributions made by HON Industries members (employees) to help the victims of the terrorist attacks in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. Donations by members ranged from individual members in Wisconsin and Minnesota donating thousands of dollars, to an Iowa member's young son donating $58.83 that he had been saving to buy a new bicycle.

"The HON Industries Charitable Foundation's primary mission is to benefit and enhance the communities and education programs where our members and their families live," said Jeff Fick, Vice President of Member and Community Relations. "However, in this instance, our nation is our community and our members responded with a heartfelt outpouring to help people through these difficult times."
