BATTLE CREEK, Mich., Jan. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Kellogg's Corporate Citizenship Fund will donate $200,000 to support evelopmental programs at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The donation is the result of a partnership between Kellogg and syndicated radio host Tom Joyner.

Kellogg has partnered with Tom Joyner and his foundation to support HBCUs for the past six years. The $200,000 pledge is continued support for a special initiative started by Joyner in 2002, and also an increase over last year's pledge of $110,000.

Joyner will host a series of fundraising galas at HBCUs across the country. Kellogg's Corporate Citizenship Fund (KCCF) will be the title sponsor of 10 of these events, kicking-off the fundraising by making a $20,000 donation to each school.

"We've had a great experience working with Mr. Joyner, helping to raise support for noble institutions from Knoxville College in Tenn. to Cheyney University in Pa.," said George Franklin, vice president of external affairs at Kellogg Company, and the president of KCCF. "We really believe in Tom Joyner's mission. We know this is a critical time for many HBCUs and we want to strengthen our commitment to help these organizations succeed."

HBCUs interested in holding galas contact Joyner's organization directly. He and his staff then work with each school to help plan and execute the galas. So far, 2003 galas are planned for Tougaloo College in Jackson, Miss., Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, Ohio and Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, NY.

"We're very excited to have Kellogg back on board for 2003," said Joyner. "We appreciate the company's sincere commitment to HBCUs. Their increased pledge will go a long way toward keeping the doors of these colleges open to help prepare our next generation's leaders."

With projected annual sales of about $8 billion, Kellogg Company is the world's leading producer of cereal and a leading producer of convenience foods, including cookies, crackers, toaster pastries, cereal bars, frozen waffles, wholesome snacks, meat alternatives, pie crusts and ice cream cones.
