ANN ARBOR, Mich., - KeyBank last night presented a $5,000 check to renowned jazz artist and New Orleans native, Wynton Marsalis, during his performance with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra at the University of Michigan's Hill Auditorium. Marsalis accepted the donation on behalf of the Higher Ground Relief Fund which, administered by the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, benefits New Orleans musicians affected by Hurricane Katrina and offers general hurricane assistance to the region.

"We all saw the devastation Hurricane Katrina brought to New Orleans and the surrounding areas," says Kirk Albert, SVP, commercial banking at KeyBank, who presented the check to Marsalis. "New Orleans is the birthplace of jazz - an original American art form - and we look forward to hearing that city swing again."

Key's support for hurricane relief last year totaled $211,516 through the company's corporate matching gifts program and a $100,000 Key Foundation grant benefiting efforts in Key communities from Maine to Alaska. Additionally, KeyBank customers and communities supported relief efforts by donating $370,000 to the American Red Cross through Key's 946 KeyCenters (branches) nationwide.
