KeyBank to Provide Vehicle Loans Through Family Services 'Ways to Work' Program

AKRON, OH - The KeyBank Eastern Ohio district today entered an ongoing relationship with Family Services of Summit County to provide vehicle loans of up to $3,000 to 120 area families through the nonprofit's WAYS to WORK loan program.

Since the Summit County program's inception in 1996, more than 300 area families have benefited from loans exceeding a combined total of $700,000. WAYS to WORK/Family Services is significantly increasing the number loans provided through its relationship with KeyBank following receipt of a $500,000 grant from the Department of Transportation.

The vast majority of borrowers in WAYS to WORK loan programs nationwide are families in need of short-term support to "get on their feet." Through the program, Family Services evaluates, approves and processes each loan application and fully supports loan repayments by working with each borrower to establish and/or repair his/her credit history through a spending plan that supports the loan repayment. WAYS to WORK loans are typically repaid within two years of their closing.

The agreement marks KeyBank's first-ever participation in the program and serves as a model for helping people and communities achieve economic self-sufficiency through similar relationships with WAYS to WORK/Family Services organizations in KeyBank districts from Maine to Alaska.

"WAYS to WORK is a pathway for families to establish conventional banking and financial services relationships," says KeyBank Eastern Ohio District President Thomas E. Tulodzieski. "We look forward to helping Family Services of Summit County make that a reality, while forging strong relationships to better understand and guide each family toward achieving its financial goals in all stages of life."
