Kroger Ranks asTop Retail Donor to America's Second Harvest for Third Consecutive Year

The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) today announced it onceagain ranks as the leading retail donor to Second Harvest, the nation's largest domestic hunger relief organization.

Kroger divisions last year donated more than 19 million pounds of food and other products valued at $32 million to food banks affiliated with Second Harvest. It is the third consecutive year that Kroger has topped the list of retail donors.

Kroger's retail divisions, in conjunction with suppliers, work with more than 40 regional food banks around the country that are affiliated with Second Harvest.

"Our retail divisions and associates are working hard to make a real difference in their communities through a broad range of community outreach programs, fund raising and volunteer efforts. Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kroger is one of the nation's largest retail grocery chains. At the end of the third quarter, the Company operated 2,343 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 31 states under nearly two dozen banners, including Kroger, Fred Meyer, Ralphs, Smith's, King Soopers, Dillon, Fry's, City Market, Food 4 Less and Quality Food Centers. Kroger also operates 787 convenience stores, 396 fine jewelry stores, 87 supermarket fuel centers and 41 food processing plants.
