Lincoln National Corporation (NYSE:LNC), the parent company of the Lincoln Financial Group of companies has been selected by Working Woman magazine as one of the top 25 companies in America for working women. More than 30% of Lincoln's executive managers are women. In addition, Lincoln has been named to Working Woman's list two out of the three years since the list was created. Recently Lincoln was also named as one of the top 10 companies in America for working mothers.

Lincoln was selected for a number of its initiatives including:

Lincoln Leadership Learning Forum: This corporate-wide, year-long leadership development program enrolls executives from across Lincoln businesses. Women comprise 55% of the current class. The goal of this program is to provide business relevant leadership development through seminars, readings and discussion sessions.

Succession Planning and Personal Development: Offered to all employees, the program assesses the strengths and weaknesses of an employee and devises a developmental plan to reach their goal position.

War for Talent: Recognizing that employees are a definite competitive asset, LFG has implemented this aggressive HR strategy to hire top talent that equates to top performance. The program also insures the right people are matched with the right position.

"Being named by Working Woman for our initiatives is a testimonial to our seriousness in assessing and addressing the needs of our most important asset, our employees," said Jon A. Boscia, president and chief executive officer of Lincoln Financial Group. "Encouraging and supporting women within Lincoln is the right thing to do. Having a diverse workforce allows us to retain and recruit intellectual capital and who in turn assist us in meeting our short and long term business goals."

"Talking the talk doesn't land a company on the annual Top 25 Companies. The "Top 25" is a numbers game; it's about how many women are advancing through a company's management ranks all the way up to the executive suite," says Working Woman Features Editor Lisa Lee Freeman. "This year, we also focused on the highest ranking women at the Top 25 companies who, in this time of job-hopping, together have tenures that are twice as high as national average. Their collective longevity is a testament to the Top 25's supportive environments, demonstrating that it pays to be on top of this issue. It helps companies attract and retain top women and encourages the women to produce at the highest levels."
