SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 16, 2007--McKesson Corporation today announced the kick-off of its "Community Days," a national program that encourages employees to take a paid day off and participate in coordinated group volunteer projects with fellow co-workers. This year more than 4,246 McKesson employees in 91 different locations will participate in Community Days projects focused on improving the lives of foster children across the country and in Canada and Puerto Rico.

In addition to painting murals at a children's hospital and sorting clothes at the Salvation Army, among many other activities, this year the focus is on making fleece blankets for foster children in McKesson's communities. McKesson estimates that its employee volunteers will produce more than 4,700 blankets during this week.

"As a community member that has taken in 32 foster children over the past 17 years, I know how important these blankets will be to all of our children, from the tiny ones to the teenagers," said Nancy DeWeese, Executive Vice President, Foster Parent Network. "These children are often taken from their homes with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. Having their very own blanket to bring with them when they come into a new foster home will provide a sense of security and comfort when they need it most."

"McKesson has been dedicated to building healthier communities since our inception nearly 175 years ago," said Marcia Argyris, Vice President of Community Relations for McKesson Corp. "Our employees take pride in working for a company that gives back to the community, as demonstrated by the incredible effort they are putting into these projects during National Volunteer Week."

Some of the volunteer locations include: Alpharetta, GA; Aurora, IL; Carrollton and Lewisville, TX; Dubuque, IA; Indianapolis, IN; Livonia, MI; Broomfield, CO; Memphis, TN; New Britain and Cheshire, CT; Newcastle, PA; Newton, MA; Central Phoenix, AZ; West Phoenix, AZ; Scottsdale, AZ; Pittsburgh, PA; Richmond, VA; Rockville, MA; San Francisco, CA; Springfield, MO; Brooklyn Park, MN; Golden Valley, MN; Little Canada, MN; Roseville, MN; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Wheeling, IL.

As a show of corporate support for the participants, McKesson volunteers will be rewarded with AngelPoints, a program that supports employee volunteerism through cash grants to the employees' favorite charities.
