Office Depot and AT&T Present $50,000 Grant to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition at its Success Strategies Luncheon

DELRAY BEACH, FL - Office Depot, Inc. (NYSE: ODP), -- in collaboration with AT&T, (NYSE: T) today presented a $50,000 grant to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) to support a new public awareness campaign.

The grant will fund the launch of a national public educational and informational campaign focused on hereditary ovarian cancer risks during National Ovarian Cancer Month in September.

The donation was presented at Office Depot's Inspirational Luncheon at their fourth annual Success Strategies for Businesswomen Conference, which took place this week at the Boca Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Florida.

NOCC President Maria Ciesla accepted the donation from Office Depot's Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Jocelyn Carter-Miller and AT&T's Vice President of Business for Florida, Randy Fairbank.

"The opportunity to launch a public information campaign represents a vitally important enhancement to NOCC's ability to serve and educate women about ovarian cancer," said Ciesla. "We are grateful to Office Depot and AT&T for their investment in this critically important campaign."

According to Carter-Miller, the campaign is aimed at raising awareness about ovarian cancer and providing information and support to women who have or are at risk of contracting the disease. "We believe the campaign will, quite literally, help save lives. More than 25,000 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2004 which sadly results in nearly 16,100 deaths -- roughly 6 percent of all cancer deaths in women."

According to Ciesla, many deaths occur because women and their health care providers do not have the information necessary to detect the disease at an early stage, when the survival rates are much higher.

"As the world's largest networking company we are proud to help spread the word about a disease that affects so many women," said AT&T's Fairbank. "Education is one of the best defenses to help combat ovarian cancer and by actively communicating with one another about it lives can be saved."

In addition to financial support of the grant, AT&T provided the more than 800 women in attendance at the luncheon with AT&T Prepaid phone cards so they can "Phone a Friend" and encourage them to become informed about who is at risk for the disease as well as its symptoms.

The campaign will be carried out in collaboration with FORCE: Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered -- the only national nonprofit organization for women whose family history or genetic status puts them at high risk of developing ovarian and/or breast cancer.
