Philip Morris Cos. Inc. and its operating companies wish to join others in corporate America in assisting the victims of last week’s tragedy. Today the company has announced a $10 million commitment to their relief.

The first installment, a $1 million grant to the American Red Cross has been delivered to aid in recovery efforts in New York and Washington. We will make additional contributions to a variety of relief and support agencies in the coming weeks as we determine where our contributions can be most effective in helping our fellow citizens.

In addition, Philip Morris USA and its employees have contributed $100,000 to the Greater Richmond Chapter of the American Red Cross, and $50,000 to the Cabarrus County Chapter of the Red Cross.

Kraft Foods sent eight truckloads of ready-to-eat snacks and ready-to-drink beverages to relief workers and victims in New York and Washington. Kraft also sent food to travelers stranded in Canada.

Miller Brewing has provided tens of thousands of cases of bottled water to relief workers at the disaster sites.

Philip Morris Cos. Inc. accelerated the launch of an employee giving website to assist the victims. The website enables full-time employees in the United States who wish to make personal donations to relief organizations to have their donations matched by company funds.
