PRINCETON, N.J - To help support relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Tyco International, Inc. (NYSE: TYC; BSX: TYC) today announced a corporate cash donation of $500,000 to the American Red Cross. In addition, the company is providing a 100 percent match for qualified employee contributions through its U.S. Employee Matching Gift Program. These cash donations will be used to provide food, water, shelter, emergency first aid, disaster welfare information and bulk distribution of emergency relief items in the areas most affected.

The company is also beginning to mobilize other cash contributions, as well as product support and donations from its five business segments:Healthcare, Electronics, Plastics & Adhesives, Engineered Products & Services, and Fire & Security. Tyco Plastics & Adhesives has already donated thousands of trash bags to civic and community centers in the affected region. M/A- COM, a business unit of Tyco Electronics and a leading manufacturer of critical emergency radio systems, is working with local police and fire departments to support and sustain their public safety radio systems. Tyco Healthcare maintains an ongoing relationship with several relief organizations including AmeriCares and Direct Relief International. Previously donated gauze, syringes, wound care supplies, surgical tape and other medical supplies are already in inventory with these relief organizations and ready for shipment as soon as specific needs in the affected areas are identified.

According to Ed Breen, Tyco's chairman and chief executive officer, "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the growing number of people affected by Hurricane Katrina. It is impossible to know at this time the full extent of damage done by the hurricane that struck the Gulf Coast, but we know that rebuilding these areas will be a long and arduous process. We look forward to working with our customers, relief organizations and the government to evaluate the ongoing needs there -- and to provide assistance when possible.

In the short-term, we will continue to work with the American Red Cross to identify urgent needs where we may be able to provide specific products and expertise."
