Lear Corporation (NYSE: LEA) today announced the appointment of Charles E. White to Vice President - Supplier Diversity and Development for the company's Global Purchasing Division. White reports to Lear Vice President - Global Purchasing, Steve Hayworth.

As Vice President - Supplier Diversity and Development, White is responsible for increasing the amount of goods and services Lear purchases from certified minority vendors to meet the company's goal to triple diversity spending to $600 million by 2005.

White joined Lear in 1991 as Manager - Supplier Development in the Purchasing Division, and most recently served as Director - Supplier Diversity and Development. Prior to joining Lear, White was employed by Ford Motor Company and also held various management positions with Borg Warner.

White earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Detroit. He is a member of the American Society for Quality Control and the Society of Manufacturers Engineers. He and his wife, Carolyn, have four children and reside in Detroit.
