DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 25, 2006--Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) today announced that Qwest Wireless(R) has added its thinnest-ever wireless phone to its lineup of pink phones that benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. With the addition of the SANYO Katana(TM), an ultra-slim and lightweight handset offering essential features and functionality, customers can now choose between two different pink handsets.

Qwest and SANYO announced in June that up to $100,000 from pink phone sales through October 31 will be donated to the Komen Foundation to support research and community outreach programs. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and pink is the color associated with breast cancer prevention and research.

"The pocket-sized Katana from Qwest Wireless offers customers the latest in sleek styling and advanced features, but also supports essential preventative efforts and research to help win the fight against breast cancer," said Teresa Taylor, executive vice president of Human Resources at Qwest. "Qwest is very excited about the expansion of our partnership with SANYO in support of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation."

Beyond its slim and lightweight silhouette, measuring less than six-tenths of an inch thick and weighing just 3.4 ounces, the Katana features a camera with digital zoom, self-timer and storage for up to 33 high-resolution photos; has a superior battery performance with up to 3.6 hours of talk time; offers a large 2.2 inch color internal display; and supports Bluetooth(R) Wireless Technology. Customers who choose the Katana will also be able to browse the Internet and send and receive pictures with Sprint PCS Vision - a feature that will be free for the first two months of service and available for just $15 a month thereafter.

"We'd like to thank the customers of Qwest and SANYO who have purchased one of our pink phones to help in the Komen Foundation effort. The two pink SANYO phones are characteristic of the pink ribbon symbolizing breast cancer awareness. While helping people stay connected to friends, family and business, the sale of the phones also benefits a very worthwhile cause," said Andy Kodera, senior vice president and general manager of SANYO Fisher Company's Wireless Communications Division.

In addition to the Cherry Blossom Pink Katana, Qwest Wireless and SANYO will donate 10 percent of the retail sale price of the SANYO SCP-2400 Fun Flip Phone in Misty Rose to the Komen Foundation. Donations for both handsets could total as much as $100,000 through October 31, 2006.

Qwest Wireless network services are provided on the Sprint(R) Nationwide PCS Network. The new handset is available at discounted prices with a one- or two-year Qwest Wireless contract for eligible customers. New and existing customers can visit a Qwest retail store, visit www.qwest.com/wireless or call 1 800-244-1111 for more information.
