PITTSBURGH,PA. - September 23, 2008 - Bayer Corporation has been recognized by Working Mother magazine as one of the 100 best companies across the nation for working mothers. This selection marks the sixth time Bayer has appeared on the annual list.

"At Bayer, we're constantly searching for the most talented individuals to join our team," said Dr. Attila Molnar, President and CEO of Bayer Corporation. "Our goal is to provide programs that allow working parents to excel at work and in their family lives."

For consideration for the "Working Mother 100 Best," Bayer was measured and evaluated on seven areas of work/life criteria including: workforce profile, child care, company culture, flexibility, time off and leave policies, total compensation and benefits and family-friendly programs.

Bayer was recognized for its family-friendly programs, compensation, benefits, leave programs and availability of child care, and ranked high or above average in half of the categories surveyed. Dr. Molnar identified health and wellness programs, child care, telecommuting, flexible schedules and a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program as some of the work/life opportunities within Bayer that attract and retain employees to the company.

The Working Mother recognition is one of several from national or local organizations that Bayer has received, including the prestigious Catalyst Award for leadership in establishing innovative programs to prepare women and people of color with the critical skills necessary to advance to senior positions.

The complete list of the "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" appears in the October issue of Working Mother - available on newsstands - and currently available on the magazine's Web site, www.workingmother.com

Methodology

Bayer Corporation was selected for the 2008 Working Mother 100 Best Companies based on an extensive application with more than 500 questions. The application included detailed questions about workforce, compensation, child care, flexibility programs, leave policies and more. It also checked the usage, availability and tracking of programs, as well as the accountability of managers who oversee them. Seven areas were measured and scored: workforce profile, compensation, child care, flexibility, time off and leaves, family-friendly programs, and company culture. For this year's 100 Best, particular weight was given to family-friendly policies, flexibility, leave policies and benefits for part-timers.
