Winners are selected for the regions of Europe, Africa, North America, Asia-Pacific, West Asia and Latin America, and a global winner is then also chosen. All winners will receive a trip for themselves and an accompanying adult to the 2007 official World Environment Day celebrations in Norway, together with cash and other attractive prizes. The winning and other selected paintings will be exhibited at the World Environment Day itself and later at international exhibitions, as well as on the websites of UNEP and Bayer.
Bayer is UNEP's first private partner in youth and the environment. Together, Bayer and UNEP organize around a dozen environmental projects for young people around the world. In addition to the Children's Painting Competition, these include international youth environmental forums, a magazine, a photographic competition in Eastern Europe and the Environmental Envoy Program, which culminates every year in the invitation to Germany of selected young people from all over the world to learn about environmental protection. Bayer supports the joint activities with sponsorship amounting to one million euros per annum and additional donations in kind.
Entries to the Children's Painting Competition should be sent by December 31, 2006, to the relevant UNEP regional offices (see overview below).
