NEW YORK, NY - November 20, 2007 - L'Oréal Paris is fully committed to supporting women's issues and is honored to celebrate its 10-year anniversary as a partner of The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF). The partnership has raised over $13 million to fund much-needed research and awareness of this deadly disease. Most recently, L'Oréal Paris hosted "A Night of Hope" which raised $350,000 to benefit OCRF. L'Oréal Paris spokespersons Diane Keaton and Andie MacDowell co-hosted the event with L'Oréal Paris President Carol J. Hamilton and Harper's Bazaar Editor-in-Chief Glenda Bailey, and they were also joined by L'Oréal Paris spokespersons Eva Longoria, Kerry Washington and Dayle Haddon in Los Angeles on November 7th for the fundraiser.

All proceeds raised from "A Night of Hope" are donated to OCRF's research programs. The evening included a cocktail reception and luxury silent auction featuring exceptional photography, fashions and accessories from designers including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Donna Karan, Bulgari and De Beers. President of L'Oréal Paris, Carol J. Hamilton noted, "This year marks the tenth anniversary of L'Oréal Paris' support of The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. I am proud of the fact that L'Oreal is the largest corporate fundraiser in this critical fight against ovarian cancer. Since 1997, we have helped to raise over $13 million to fund life-saving research and to promote awareness building programs that help empower women to make educated choices about their health and well-being."

"Awareness is a key element in winning the fight against ovarian cancer. There is currently no effective, easy to use method of early detection for ovarian cancer and as a result, many of the cases are diagnosed too late. In addition to raising much needed funds for research programs, L'Oréal Paris has been extremely instrumental in spreading the message that every woman should have knowledge of this disease and its symptoms," explains Elizabeth Howard, CEO of OCRF.

As part of their deep commitment to women's issues, L'Oréal Paris has developed several programs to raise awareness and educate women about ovarian cancer as well as honor a cross section of women who are giving back to their communities. L'Oréal Paris' philanthropic initiatives include:

  • Beauty for a Cause - The L'Oréal Paris Color of Hope Makeup Collection is every bit as inspiring, on-trend and fashion-forward as it is hopeful. Featuring products for eyes, lips and cheeks, the collection pairs the universally flattering shade of mauve with vibrant teal - the color symbolizing ovarian cancer awareness. Together, these shades represent strength, hope and inspiration. L'Oréal Paris donates 10 percent of the retail price from each Color of Hope lipcolour purchased to OCRF. The collection is currently available at mass retailers nationwide.

  • Let your Commitment Shine - L'Oréal has also created the signature "Color of Hope" jewelry collection that raises funds for OCRF. The collection includes a sterling silver bracelet, pendant and earrings that all feature a pavé "O" shape to symbolize hope, life, and ovarian cancer. All of the jewelry items are available for purchase online at www.lorealcolorofhope.com with net proceeds ($5.00 per item) to benefit OCRF. Furthermore, a special diamond Color of Hope necklace has been created to commemorate the "A Night of Hope" star-studded fundraiser and is also available online.

  • Hope Begins with You - L'Oréal Paris donated one dollar from the sale of select skincare products to OCRF throughout October at participating Wal-Mart stores nationwide. L'Oréal Paris also distributed a brand-new ovarian cancer awareness brochure that shares the stories of several ovarian cancer survivors and provides pertinent educational information about the disease.

  • Strong Educational Programs - To promote awareness and early detection, L'Oréal Paris created public service announcements featuring L'Oréal Paris spokespersons Andie MacDowell and Milla Jovovich. The announcements empower women to make educated choices regarding their well-being and encourage them to speak to their doctors about ovarian cancer. L'Oréal Paris also launched a dedicated website for this campaign - www.lorealcolorofhope.com. The website provides information about the disease and offers ways for people to help support the fight against ovarian cancer.

  • A Special Partnership - In an effort to raise awareness for the disease, which affects over 22,000 new women a year in the U.S. alone, the September issues of Hearst Magazines' Good Housekeeping; Harper's BAZAAR; Marie Claire; O, The Oprah Magazine and Redbook ran a half-page "bookmark" adjacent to a full page Q&A about ovarian cancer, featuring a portrait of and quote from the magazine's editor-in-chief. The bookmarks introduced a "call to action" for readers to get involved in the fight against ovarian cancer and show their support for the cause by purchasing the Color of Hope bracelet, with net proceeds benefiting OCRF to fund life-saving research.

  • L'Oréal Paris Ovarian Cancer Awareness Week - From September 17th through September 21st, L'Oréal Paris sponsored a company-wide ovarian cancer awareness week dedicated to building awareness, compassion and commitment among its employees. The week included a "Breaking the Silence Breakfast," which educated employees and important women in their lives about the signs, symptoms and risk factors of the disease. The company also hosted a "Survivor Beauty Festival" day of pampering at the L'Oréal Paris salon for ovarian cancer survivors and those currently undergoing treatment. In addition, employees were given the opportunity to receive makeovers by professional makeup artists using the Color of Hope Makeup Collection.

  • Women of Worth - L'Oréal Paris remains committed to additional women’s issues through the second annual Women of Worth program. Inspired by the phrase 'Because I'm Worth It,' L'Oréal Paris honored 13 women from around the country for their incredible dedication to community achievement and volunteerism. These 13 exceptional women have shown incomparable dedication for their respective causes, tackling a wide range of issues including: the environment, cancer care, pregnancy issues, homelessness and elder care. Each winner received a $2,500 donation to the charity of their choice and L'Oreal made a matching contribution to OCRF.
