NEW YORK, NY - L'Oreal USA has been named one of America's Safest Companies by Occupational Hazards magazine, a national publication for occupational safety and health professionals. The award is presented annually and recognizes companies for outstanding occupational safety and health programs and processes for their employees.

"L'Oreal USA has a long-standing commitment to the health, safety and well-being of its employees, and we're proud to be recognized for our efforts and innovative programs in this area," said Mr. Jean-Christophe Sautory, Senior Vice President Corporate Manufacturing L'Oreal USA.

L'Oreal USA was also recognized last year by Mr. John Henshaw, Assistant Secretary U.S. Department of Labor and the head of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), when L'Oreal USA announced its pledge to achieve OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star Status at all of its eight U.S. manufacturing plants within five years. The company has a strong, consistent record for safe and healthful workplaces that exceed government standards.

With four U.S.-based manufacturing plants that have already achieved VPP Star Status (Franklin, Clark and Piscataway, NJ and North Little Rock, AR) the company is one of the first foreign-based international companies to commit to attain VPP Star Status for all its U.S.-based industrial plants.

Occupational Hazards magazine selects the list of Americas Safest Companies based on recommendations from industry professionals, recognition by industry associations, participation in programs such as OSHA's VPP, state and local awards, and Occupational Hazard's research.

All 16 companies will be profiled in the October issue of Occupational Hazards magazine.
