Time Warner Inc. today celebrated the 25th anniversary of its annual Andrew Heiskell Community Service Awards, which highlight the exceptional volunteer efforts of its employees. The awards, named for Andrew Heiskell, the late former chairman and CEO of Time Inc., are being presented at a luncheon ceremony today at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City to eight Time Warner employees in recognition of their outstanding individual contributions to community and public service.

Time Warner is also presenting a Community Service Team Award to recognize a group of employees that exemplifies Time Warner's values of responsibility and teamwork. The 2006 Community Service Team Award is being presented to Time Warner Cable's (Los Angeles division) VolunTEAM Committee, which performs community service activities for a wide variety of nonprofit organizations in Southern California.

In addition, Dennis G. Quinn, Executive Vice President of Business Development for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., will receive the Civic Leadership Award, which recognizes a senior executive for outstanding community leadership.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Heiskell Awards, guest speaker Vartan Gregorian, President of the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the former President of Brown University, will pay tribute to Mr. Heiskell and speak about his legacy of volunteerism and community service. Mr. Gregorian, who served as President of the New York Public Library from 1981 to 1989, worked closely with Mr. Heiskell on his philanthropic activities on behalf of the Library.

Each Andrew Heiskell Community Service Award winner receives $5,000 from Time Warner, in the form of a $3,000 donation to the nonprofit organization or organizations of his or her choice, and a personal honorarium of $2,000. In addition, as part of the Community Service Team Award, Time Warner makes a $10,000 donation to the nonprofit organization or organizations of the team's choice. In honor of Mr. Quinn, Time Warner will make a $5,000 donation to the nonprofit organization or organizations of his choice.

This year's honorees, who were nominated by their peers and chosen from among Time Warner's 87,000 employees worldwide, are:

Andrew Heiskell Community Service Awards

David L. Cole, Senior Vice President, Systems Operations, AOL, Reston, Virginia, who has served on the board of the Prince William County (Virginia) Chapter of the American Red Cross for the past six years and as Chairman for the past four years. He has provided disaster assistance to hundreds of local families and has trained thousands of other residents on how to prepare for and respond to disasters.

Scott Derek Gaba, Costumer, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Burbank, California, who co-founded Fresh Start, a sober-living home providing a positive place for peer group recovery support and an environment that allows residents to develop individual recovery programs and become self-supporting.

Deborah Lynn Galle, Manager, Employee Communications, Time Warner Corporate, New York, New York, who co-founded the Greenwich Committee for Montefiore Medical Center in 1991 to raise funds and awareness for important clinical programs, including brain tumor and stroke research.

Clifton Leaf, Senior Editor at Large, Fortune Magazine, Time Inc., New York, New York, who is an internationally known advocate for the reform of the cancer world. His award-winning cover article in Fortune in 2004, "Why We're Losing the War on Cancer," gave him a platform to argue for dramatic change. Since then, he has traveled the world delivering galvanizing messages to the cancer establishment and redefining the national debate about cancer.

Jimmy Lynn, Vice President, Partnerships and Strategic Development, AOL Sports, Dulles, Virginia, who serves on the boards of three Washington, D.C. organizations - Hoop Dreams Foundation, Super Leaders and the Greater Washington Sports Alliance - that help inner-city youth.

Linda R. Martinez, Receptionist, Time Warner Cable, Cypress, California, who is a drug and alcohol counselor at New Directions for Women, where she has volunteered nearly every weekend for the past seven years.

Santo C. Ragno, Travel Operations Coordinator, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Burbank, California, who is co-founder and a board member of the Creative Planet School of Performing Arts, a private, nonprofit elementary school that offers accelerated academics and an after-school program to low-income, at-risk youth.

Sheilah Williams, Administrative Assistant, Time Inc., New York, New York, who since 2001 has volunteered with Global Initiatives, which offers life-sustaining resources to the people of West Africa.

Some of the group's recent activities have included delivering meals to homebound seniors; preparing dinners for families with seriously ill children who are staying at the local Ronald McDonald House; and supporting local charity events benefiting cancer research.

Civic Leadership Award

Dennis G. Quinn, Executive Vice President of Business Development, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., Atlanta, Georgia, who serves as chairman of the board of 21st Century Leaders, an initiative to teach leadership skills to at-risk young people in more than 70 Georgia high schools. Mr. Quinn also serves on the board of Creating Pride, an organization that seeks to spark creativity and learning for students through art-making.

The awards are named for the late former Time Inc. chairman and CEO Andrew Heiskell, whose 43-year career at Time Inc. was marked by a distinguished record of public service and philanthropy. He founded the National Urban Coalition, for which he served as co-chairman from 1967 to 1979, and played an important role in the successful 12-year effort to restore Bryant Park in midtown Manhattan. His leadership and generosity have been recognized in numerous ways, including the naming of the New York City Library for the Blind in his honor.
