OAOT Targets Women and Minority Businesses for New Partnership Program

OAO Technology Solutions® (NASDAQ - OAOT) announced today it has officially launched a business enterprise partner program specifically targeting high-potential businesses and startups owned by women and minorities. OAOT will provide resources and business mentoring services to selected companies that offer products or services that complement OAOT’s offerings.

According to Greg Pratt, president and CEO of OAOT, this program is an extension of an initiative begun in 1999, in which the company actively purchased goods and services from women and minority-owned businesses. During fiscal 2000 OAOT estimates that it invested a total of $3.6 million in minority-owned services.

“We built a successful track record of working with minority-owned vendors and have now decided to take it to the next level by forming partnerships with up and coming businesses,” Pratt said. “Our plan is to foster long-term relationships with promising companies that will add value to our offerings and add new contracts and customers to both our traditional and new lines of business.”

On July 9, seven minority-owned firms made presentations to OAOT’s Greg Pratt and members of the company’s Enterprise Applications and eBusiness Solutions division. Among the eBusiness companies presenting were: SMART Technology of Alexandria, Virginia, All eComers, Inc. of New York, Nucore Vision of Washington D.C., Networking Technologies Solutions of Richmond, Virginia, The Baldwin Group of Lanham, Maryland, Ravens Communications of Beltsville, Maryland, and Digital Magnet of Greenbelt, Maryland.

OAOT is looking for candidates for its W/MBE partner program that offer services or products that complement its own solutions and will make for a viable partnership opportunity. They must have in place a strong business model, have certification by a minority supplier diversity council, and references.

“The technology market is fiercely competitive, and we are always looking for ways to add value to our solutions and stay ahead of the competition,” added Pratt. “There is an abundance of women and minority-owned companies with the talent and drive who need some early support and development. This is a win-win proposition for us, for these entrepreneurs, and ultimately for our customers.”
