Peabody Energy Aids West Virginia Flood Relief Efforts

Peabody Energy (NYSE: BTU), through its Eastern Associated Coal Corp. subsidiary, has donated $100,000 to help victims of southern West Virginia flood devastation. Much of Peabody's West Virginia operations are located in the affected areas.

The $100,000 will be donated to the Red Cross through the West Virginia Coal Association, which is raising flood relief funds from its membership.

Peabody suppliers, vendors, trucking contractors and numerous Peabody employees joined with other organizations throughout West Virginia in responding to the needs of flood victims.

Peabody Energy is collecting donations at its operating units in West Virginia and continues to respond to requests form the local communities for help with the cleanup.
