BOSTON, Massachusetts - CityKi, a provider of solutions for neighborhood economic development, has located its corporate office in Dudley Square's Empowerment Zone in Boston.

Massachusetts State Senator Dianne Wilkerson had this to say, "CityKi has been working feverishly for the past two years bringing e-services to the communities of Boston. Their arrival to the Empowerment Zone and to Dudley Square shows that they are a company committed to carrying out their mission, marking a new chapter that highlights the diversity of our great city. Keep up the good work."

An increasing number of Boston residents are facing challenges due to job loss, rising inflation and lost access to resources for health, education and welfare. CityKi provides publicly accessible, easy-to-use, touch-screen computers (kiosks) to improve the lives of neighborhood residents and visitors. CityKi brings together communities, technology, and art to create awareness and access to service offerings often not available. To overcome the usual challenges of public disinterest in single function kiosks, CityKi incorporates many channels into a secure and meaningful offering including Products, Travel and Transit Information, Financial Services, Government, Community, Email, Health, and Small Business.

CityKi has launched three early-stage pilot programs in cooperation with the local community and early supporters such as Fleet Community Bank, The Department of Pediatrics at Boston Medical Center, Alternatives Federal Credit Union, Americas' Food Basket, Project Health, and Project Bread. The CityKi Network allows partners to share infrastructure costs and even their own venues with each other so that programs may reach multiple settings.

Adds Kirk Sykes, CityKi investor and advisor, "CityKi is bringing urban communities into the technology age; this is fitting that we are at the epicenter of urban renewal and activity. We are pleased to be in Dudley where we can feel the energy and issues of the city and integrate them into the power of our product."

About the Empowerment Zone:

In January 1999, Boston was designated an Empowerment Zone by HUD. The Empowerment Zone designation carries a $100 million award over a 10-year period ($10 million per year). The goal of the Empowerment Zone is to generate economic self-sufficiency for individuals, families, and neighborhoods through job creation and human development.
