Developer of the World Trade Center, Larry Silverstein; Nobel laureate, Joseph Stilitz; Lord Peter Melchett among many to take up the issues this year in New York City

San Francisco - Three years after the destruction of the World Trade Center, lower Manhattan is being rebuilt embracing sustainable building principles. This is made possible through a stakeholder engagement process occurring on a mammoth scale. Developer of the site Larry Silverstein will join this year's BSR Annual Conference participants to discuss this process and the "green design" elements that will be incorporated into one of the most-watched building projects of our time.

Among the many other notable speakers joining Silverstein at this year's conference is Nobel laureate, and former Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of the World Bank, Joseph Stiglitz. Stiglitz will share his insightful and often controversial views on the implications and impact of globalization and the role of business in this process.

Lord Peter Melchett, who served as the executive director of Greenpeace for 11 years - guiding the organization through its high-profile Brent Spar and GMO campaigns - will reflect on what it takes to prosecute initiatives that win hearts, minds, media coverage and ultimately change.

The line-up for the conference to take place November 9-12 in New York City, will feature over 30 instructive and interactive break-out sessions each designed to build and enhance the expertise of managers and corporate officers alike. These sessions will take up a variety of subjects, examples of which include:

  • Assessing the Impact of Sustainable Economic Development
  • Tying CSR Performance to Firm Equity Valuation
  • CSR and the Role of the Corporate Counsel
  • The Environmental Challenges of Doing Business in China
  • New Models for Responsible Supply Chain Management

Consistently drawing attendance of more than 1,000 leaders from business, civil society and the public sector, and representation from more than 35 countries, the Annual BSR Conference is one of the largest and most valuable networking and learning forums for CSR experts and those new to the field.
