VANCOUVER - Members of Canadian Business for Social Responsibility (CBSR), a non-profit, business association, ranked prominently in the second annual Report On Business Magazine CSR Rankings. Twenty-six CBSR members were recognized in the rankings, with member companies scoring the highest in eight of the report's thirteen categories.

As CBSR approaches its 10th Anniversary in Canada, president and CEO Adine Mees welcomes the consistent application of a rigourous ranking methodology for responsible corporate behaviour. "A solid ranking system like this reinforces the validity and viability of corporate social responsibility," says Mees. "After a decade of building awareness and expertise, we see smart companies integrating CSR into their business operations. And those same smart companies are leading in overall business performance."

CBSR members that received the highest ranking in their respective industries include: Hewlett-Packard, Mountain Equipment Co-op, Alcan, Citizens Bank, Starbucks, Suncor, Tembec and Sun Life.

CBSR works with companies that have committed to operating in a socially, environmentally and financially responsible manner.
