NEW DELHI, India - CSRWorld recently launched an online database called "Country Profiles". This section contains labour law database of South Asian countries like India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Country Profiles section is mainly designed for social compliance needs in India and other South Asian countries. This is the first online labour law database of key sourcing countries for big American and European Retailers. The database is accessible at www.csrworld.net.

Social Compliance requires compliance with local labour laws on issues like child labour, minimum wages, social security benefits, workers' welfare, workplace conditions etc. This extensive database is designed to help the companies and organizations by providing thorough, accurate and verified accounts of national legal requirements on working conditions. Labour Law significantly enhances the ability of companies to ensure supplier compliance with their codes of conduct. This section also has exclusive database on minimum wages from all South Asian countries.

According to Mr. Rajesh Chhabara, CEO of CSRWorld, "Labour compliance is a crucial link in the supply chain -- a protection for worker and human rights and effective factory monitoring requires a sound understanding of national and local laws. Inaccessible and incorrect legal information can endanger even the best-designed efforts to accomplish compliance with labor standards".

Besides the labour law database, the section also contains Sourcing Risk Profiles of the five countries, which provides invaluable information on the potential risks involved in sourcing from these countries from social accountability point of view. This information is vital for taking strategic business decisions and handling risk and reputation management.
