NEW YORK- June 6, 2007 "“ Deloitte & Touche USA LLP announces the launch of its corporate governance Web site, the new online Center for Corporate Governance. The Web site, accessible through the following URL: www.corpgov.deloitte.com, is a publicly available online resource that offers regularly updated, balanced governance information for board of directors, c-suite executives, investors, attorneys and others interested in governance.

Featuring issues related to audit committees, board governance, and compensation committees, the site is designed as an online resource that provides timely and relevant thought-ware as well as other information, including a list of Deloitte webcasts, podcasts and events focused on governance issues. Monthly postings on relevant topics, discussions regarding governance issues and data on board practices and composition are also available.

"With continued focus on corporate risk, integrity in financial reporting and regulatory compliance requirements, it is more important than ever for organizations to maintain good governance practices," explained Steve Wagner, Managing Partner, Center for Corporate Governance, Deloitte & Touche LLP. "The Web site provides a ‘one-stop shop’ for boards and committee members to find governance thought-ware which includes perspectives from various experts on the latest governance topics and best practices as well as tools and resources to assist them in fulfilling their responsibilities as board members."

The site leverages the success of the Audit Committee Online Web site, which Corporate Board Member magazine recognized as one of "20 web sites every director should bookmark,"and the activities of the Center for Corporate Governance, making it a robust governance resource for directors, C-suite executives and others who support the governance function.

"Because audit committee members need to be aware of emerging practices and public expectations that can affect their roles and responsibilities, it is important that they have access to relevant, timely, high-quality materials," said Walter C. Richter, Vice Chairman, Office of the CEO, Deloitte & Touche USA LLP.

The Center for Corporate Governance provides the latest research and in-depth information on leading governance practices for directors and board committees. Critical governance data available on the site includes:

  • Audit Committees: Focusing on the increased responsibilities of audit committees, this section contains information on the role of the committee, performance evaluations, working with internal and external auditors, whistleblower provisions and risk oversight.

  • Board Governance: The many questions addressed in this section include: What are the roles and responsibilities of the board? How does a company develop and evaluate its board members? What are the essential elements of an effective ethics and compliance program?

  • Compensation Committees: Spotlighting director and executive compensation, this section includes information about the changing responsibilities of this committee following the adoption of the SEC’s executive compensation disclosure rules.
