ICCR Update on Event Speaker September 23

ICCR's Annual Fall Event, September 23, will present Corporate Transformations, a vision of how corporations might change for the better. Dr. Vandana Shiva, noted Indian environmentalist and activist, was scheduled to be our keynote speaker. ICCR regrets that she is unable to come, as pressing family medical needs will keep her in India at the time of the event. We wish her and her family well.

And we thank Frank Dixon for stepping up to the role of keynote speaker. We look forward to his comments. Greg Lau also agreed to step in when called; we are very grateful and expect to hear an exciting interchange of ideas. Both speakers are individuals who play important roles in American corporate life. Both have written and spoken widely about corporate responsibility and the transforming power of corporations.

The keynote speaker, Frank Dixon, is the Managing Director of Innovest, an internationally recognized investment research and advisory firm specializing in analyzing companies' performance on environmental, social, and strategic governance issues, with a particular focus on their impact on competitiveness, profitability, and share price performance. He promotes Total Corporate Responsibility, focusing on how corporations must change to be sustainable for the long term.

Gregory Lau, Responder, is Executive Director, Global Compensation and Corporate Governance, at General Motors. GM has known ICCR since 1971, when ICCR's first resolution was filed by the Episcopal Church with General Motors, to challenge the company's presence in apartheid South Africa.

Leslie Lowe, ICCR's Program Director for Energy and the Environment, will be the Moderator for this exciting discussion. The seminar begins at 3:30; the reception follows at 5:30, at Tavern on the Green, New York City. We hope that you will join us for a challenging and informative evening.
