Washington, DC- The World Environment Center (WEC), a leading non-profit organization that promotes sustainable development and efficient use of natural resources in multinational enterprises, has appointed Dr. Terry F. Yosie as its new President & CEO. Dr. Yosie has held senior executive positions in government, the private sector and management consulting and has extensive international experience in creating sustainable development policies and strategies.

"The WEC Board of Directors is very pleased that Terry Yosie has agreed to lead our efforts to expand sustainability commitments around the world," stated WEC Board Chair Elizabeth A. Lowery, Vice President for Environment and Energy at the General Motors Corporation. "Terry is a proven leader who has a demonstrated ability to take existing organizations to a new level. His work in directing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Science Advisory Board and the chemical industry's Responsible Care® initiative to greater effectiveness and reputation is a testament to his strengths in developing and implementing leadership strategies."

Prior to WEC, Dr. Yosie was Vice President for Responsible Care at the American Chemistry Council where he was a leader in developing the global chemical industry's Responsible Care Global Charter endorsed by United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan in February, 2006. He was also Executive Vice President of Ruder Finn, a New York based consultancy; Vice President for Health and Environment at the American Petroleum Institute; and Director of EPA's Science Advisory Board. From 1995-2001 he served on the U.S. National Academy of Sciences Board on Environmental Studies and Toxicology. He is the author of over 60 published papers on environment, health, safety, security and sustainable development and is co-author of a book entitled Sustainable Environmental Management.
